There are two
seasonal competitions running throughout the year - the first
is:
The Absent Friends Trophy
(formerly the Holman Trophy)
Presented at the end of the season to the member of the society
with a 18+ handicap. This is not based on stableford points but on the position
the player achieved on each days play. The winner gets 40 points,
the second place player gets 39 and so on down the line. If two
players tie, the same points are awarded to both.
The best 4 scores are taken -
disregarding any lower
scores.
In memory of deceased members
including
John Neary, Malcolm Holman, Terry Hinton, Paul Loom, Tony Sherwood,
Keith Adams & Ray
Swash.
Please note that the report shows Division 2 (17.5 - 24) only.
The second one is:
The Order
of Merit Trophy
Presented at the end of the season to the member
of the society (no divisions) who achieves the best score over 5
rounds of golf. This is not based on stableford points but on the
position the player achieved on each days play. The winner gets 40
points, the second place player gets 39 and so on down the line. If
two players tie, the same points are awarded to both. The best 5
scores are taken - disregarding any lower
scores.
